I agree with Malaysian's views in the letter With good English, the world is your oyster that mastery of the language can open up endless opportunities abroad. It can only benefit us to learn English well.

For students to master the language, they need to have proper lessons in schools with good teachers who know how to teach them grammar, sentence structure, syntax and other rudiments and nuances of the language. It should also be made compulsory to pass English as a subject, as it was with Bahasa Malaysia when the government wanted to promote its importance.

The duration for English lessons should also be prolonged so the students can get more practice learning to speak and write in the language. This is the correct way of doing things.

The switch to English in the teaching of Science and Mathematics will not only make it difficult for the students to pick up skills in the language, but may also make it harder to learn those two subjects as well.
