Civil liberties at higher risks with MyKad
I agree with those who oppose MyKad. We have such a poor track record of civil liberties that we should be wary of introducing it. I know of no other country in the world (even the US or UK) which is planning to use such a card.
When I was staying in the UK some years back, even the move to introduce identity cards was rejected by the masses.
I can tell you for sure we are only opening ourselves to abuse with its use. The climate, more now than ever before is not conducive for its use, what with all the news of abuse of power by the government, police and judiciary.
MyKad gives the government carte blanche to use the information in their database for whatever purpose they desire. Are we to trust them by giving them the right to track us down like common criminals?
In fact the public should be made aware of the dangers of MyKad. As it is, the majority of the public do not know what they are getting themselves into. They are like lambs being led to the slaughter.
