All parties need change
In my view, the Barisan Nasional government will remain untouchable if opposition parties are tenaciously hanging on to their old ways. The fact is they are just as cynical as BN, do not listen to the people and canvass only for the rights of certain groups.
There is now an immense opportunity for them to make changes; not the people, but the party itself. Parties that want to win the people's heart must represent the multiethnic society and fight for all common interests.
They must no longer be religion- or ethnic-based parties. Their ideology should provide a free and democratic system based on the principles of human rights, equality, as well as social and economic justice. And most importantly, their leaders should be in touch with present circumstances.
Inevitability, people are mature and enthusiastic to accept the ideology presented by the party. But how keen is the party to revolutionise?
