I beg to differ with CH Low's conclusion in the letter Dr M off-target in oil, Korea Inc aims that Muslim nations only control 22 percent of world oil.

The article on "Islam and Oil" posted on a 'green' website shows remarkable relationship between oil reserve and Muslim nations. According to the writer, oil reserves will peak around 2005. Most of the reserves lie in Muslim countries or in countries with a high Muslim population.

In fact, around 600 billion barrels of approximately 1,000 billion barrels of global oil supplies will be found around Persian Gulf (read: Muslim) states. That is 60 percent of the total.

It explain why Bush and Blair are pressing the United Nations to attack Iraq and thus ensure US control of world oil.

Mahathir is right in his proposal.
