I refer to the recent incidents in which our leaders voice their chagrin at being given such rough treatment on arrival in the US. I can't help but notice that some readers think that the US is picking on Malaysia.

The truth is some Malaysians think too highly of themselves, that the Americans are bothered actually about them.

An average American can't even list out all their 50 states. To think that they know about Malaysia is stretching it a bit too far. They probably think Malaysia is in or next to Afghanistan, much like how they thought Malaysia was Vietnam's neighbour in another war.

The average American is not bothered with what is happening outside his or her country, so Mardupi Ismail ( Incidents hint of profiling victimisation ) can rest easy. He need not worry about profiling; the truth is that a large majority of Americans don't know about Malaysia and can't be bothered to know about it too.
