I would like to ask the Housing and Local Government Minister Ong Ka Ting if it is possible for the Fire and Rescue Department (see Fire Department resources not abused for wedding: minister ) to place their generator outside the restaurant where I am going to have a wedding reception, or is it only available for members of the Fire and Rescue Department?

I am referring to the parliamentary question regarding Fire and Rescue Department director-general Jaafar Sidek Thambi who, it seemed, had organised his son's wedding reception at a stadium in Bukit Kiara and Renaissance Hotel in KL.

Notwithstanding the huge cost involved, the DG had allegedly utilised the department's resource centre to hold meetings with his officers to plan the wedding reception.

It is sad that a minister came out in Parliament to defend blatant abuse of power and public property. The minister instead should have apologised to Parliament and should have called for an explanation from his director-general.

Luckily for everyone that no tragedy occurred that required a generator badly.
