The Malay papers have accused Chinese-based political parties of being anti-national. They are once again stirring up racial sentiments in their shameless bid to defend every government policy.

What has the genuine concern of the Chinese over an unfavourable policy that is detrimental to the education of their children got to do with nationalism?

As they see it, the use of English as the teaching medium for Mathematics and Science in Chinese schools is not an educational but a political policy. A recent report in the New Straits Times revealed that more than 100,000 teachers will be sent for training to teach Maths and Science in English (correct me if I have the figure wrong). Now, isn't this revealing something?

They have every right to worry that this means many teachers who have a poor grasp of English will be teaching Maths and Science. It is like sending ducks to teach chickens how to walk.
