I sympathise deeply with family members who lost their loved ones as a result of police actions against alleged criminals. However, it must also be highlighted that present-day criminals are also trigger-happy; the latest incident on Oct 31 saw two security guards shot dead by robbers carrying M16 rifles. The guards never stood a chance as the robbers opened fire in an attempt 'to clear their way' towards their target.

Police personnel, on their rounds, are more prepared than the guards, and are better equipped, thus the casualty on the part of the other party.

We can argue, for all it's worth, but at the end of the day, the general public has to be protected, and that job rests solely on the shoulders of the police.
