Bad buses and bad drivers add up to total disaster
My name is Robert Gregory and about eight months ago my wife and I visited KL. We took a bus trip up to Genting for the day. The roads are in good condition but they are quite steep.
The bus was old and the driver was a disaster. He had the speedometer buried going downhill so he could run the bus up the next incline. There was a time when the back of the bus broke loose from the pavement because he was going so fast around a tight curve. Everyone screamed, including me. We decided to go back before dark because of the danger.
On the way back we were in the back seat. There were three young men sitting next to us, with one laying on top of them and one standing in the aisle, all drunk, singing songs the whole way back, smiling and staring at my wife. They were touching the women around them even though they had husbands. They were loud and everyone on the bus was scared.
We also took the bus from Singapore to KL. The driver was driving at top speed with two fingers, a cigarette in one hand and voraciously eating sunflower seeds with the other hand. And, of all things, watching a music video while driving. I asked him to shut the window for the air conditioning because it was hot. He would not because he had to spit the sunflower shells out the window.
When I read the article about the 37 people getting killed I, was not at all surprised. The government says they will see what caused the problem.
It is totally obvious. Bad buses, bad drivers, lack of personal safety. It all adds up to a total disaster.
