I refer to the letter by Jom-Boikot who has suggested to boycott shopping malls that have put more emphasis on Christmas decorations instead of Hari Raya ones.

His arguments is supported by the fact that Christians only make up probably 10 percent of the Malaysian population.

Being a Christian, I can assure him that we no longer associate this 'commercialised Christmas' with Christianity.

The religion never taught us about Santa Claus, Rudolf, wrapped gifts in stockings, Christmas trees and let alone wild Christmas parties.

Shopping malls putting up lavish Christmas decorations do not imply they are catering the needs of Christians. They are celebrating the carnal Christmas which lacks the spiritual factor.

Jom-Boikot's letter saddened me because he tried to bring the religion factor into this issue.

Furthermore, his implication of Christians as a 'small fraction' demonstrated his mightier-than-thou attitude.

May I appeal to him and those who are like-minded to not turn this into a racial or religious issue.
