I have written countless letters voicing my discontent with the way the Penang Outer Ring Road is handled from its inception through to the award of the project on a silver platter to a company with no track record of building highways.

Penang does not need a highway costing RM60 million a kilometre. We can definitely do a lot more and solve many problems in the state with just a fraction of that money.

We can continue to reason and plead for the money to be better spent but the ruling party will do as it wishes. The fact is, it will bulldoze this project over the heads of the Penang voters who had decided in1999 that the party is the best to continue to 'guide' the people. This is a betrayal of the worst kind.

Please stop this expensive highway before it bleeds us to death over the next 30 years and causes us pain every time we look at it. Let's speak up before it is too late. I have not heard even one layperson support the project.
