I could not agree more with Meng's analysis of the state of affairs in the Barisan Nasional.

Umno deputy president Muhammad Muhd Taib's recent remark about Malay votes compensating for the loss of Chinese votes is in essence saying that the ruling party do not need the Chinese votes. The BN can therefore go ahead with whatever agenda they have regardless of ails the Chinese community. The MCA, a member of the BN, is after all weak and divided.

With that statement by Muhammad who claimed to have had problems reading immigration cards in English, we can then go to the polling booths and show how out of touch the ruling government is with the grassroots. The fact is Malay Malaysians have not returned to Umno in droves as they would like to believe, and the Chinese Malaysians are quite disillusioned after the last general elections.

This is an opportune time for Malaysians to reflect on the political scene before the government churns out billion ringgit worth of propaganda to sway us once again before the general election. Like Meng, I believe that Parti Keadilan Rakyat provides a fresh and positive solution to the depressive state we are in. Many of their leaders are after all ex-BN members who would rather follow their conscience than the crony trap. We can only do our part by voting for a better future.
