I wish to comment on LCH's letter A good reason to remain secularist . It is unfair for LCH to judge religious (gospel) law from the

simplistic perspective of polygamy. I feel you cannot form a realistic

conclusion by disassociating polygamy from the reason why many support it it helps to reduce adultery and prostitution.

In my opinion, banning polygamy is not the solution. Rather it should be

modified to ensure that neither the rights of the husband nor the wife are

trampled on. If you are to ban polygamy because of several problematic cases,

then one should also ban alcohol and gambling because such activities also

cause many social problems.

The issue of polygamy should not be turned into a Umno vs PAS verbal war

because this is not constructive and only causes people to act irrationally.

We must remember that nothing is either all "black" or all "white".

Everything has its "grey" areas which is why we must strive to find the

middle path or as equitable a compromise that we can.
