Islam condones polygyny, not polygamy

With respect to the current debate on polygamy, the correct term should be polygyny, not polygamy.
Polygyny is a situation where a man has more than one wife. Polygamy is a marriage where either the man and/or woman can have more than one partner. Islam allows polygyny, where a man, under strict conditions, is allowed to take up to four wives. Islam has never condoned polygamy.
