As a Malaysian, I am shocked by the revelation that Dr Ling Liong Sik as the MCA president (and Chinese community leader) for more than a decade, had sent his resignation letter to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad without letting the party or community members know of his intention.

If he is responsible for them as he has always claimed to be, he has acted without considering their interest. If he has already decided to step down, he should do so sincerely. I am very sure that the MCA members will accept it, as we do not want anybody with no intention of serving the community occupying that position.

We really need a new leader with better vision and aspiration in the 21st century, considering the huge economic and political challenge we now face.

Let him go, as he had decided to resign, we need to believe that we can move forward with the next generation leadership that is more energetic and capable of bring our community and party to a better future.
