In your report PM: Govt to investigate Hadi's meeting with 'Islamic radicals'

, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that the government will investigate a news report claiming that Terengganu Menteri Besar Abdul Hadi Awang was at a meeting attended by Islamic radicals in Indonesia three years ago.

However Berita Harian reported from Kuala Terengganu o­n Feb 8 that Abdul Hadi claimed to have attended the conference in Makassar at the official invitation of Universiti Hasanuddin.

Coincidentally, o­n the same day the Star (Star Weekend, page 28), I found an advertisement about Hasanuddin University which read (among others):

"Medical degree - Hasanuddin University (Makassar Indonesia)

1. o­ne of the Top 5 Universities in Indonesia

2. 5 years ( sic ) Medical Program

3. Recognised by MMC and JPA, etc."

From the advertisement, the university does not sound like a breeding place for terrorism. Is this going to be another failed stunt by the Umno propaganda machines?
