A day or two ago, I read something o­n Transitions

that irked me. While I cannot remember the words precisely, the gist of o­ne of Oon Yeoh's paragraphs attacked two Malaysian students in the US who protested the war and wrote to him about their stand. He called them hypocrites, and said that they should come home instead if the US was so evil and terrible.

Firstly, I am a student in the US, and I do not approve of war. I feel that the US is neither evil nor terrible, and is a great place to be. Can't we consider the possibility that war protesters might just be against the policies of the current administration with regard to just this o­ne instance, instead of hating the US as a whole? Can't we separate education from politics?

Isn't it ironic that someone who almost o­n a daily basis takes jabs at the state of Malaysia, and its leaders, would even dare suggest that students in the US against war are hypocrites for remaining in such a terrible place, and should move to another country?

For some reason, I can no longer find the reference o­n the blog anymore. It seems to me that either a) I am imagining the whole thing or I have missed it, in which case I apologise, or b) the author realised how hyprocritical his own statements were, and removed them without leaving a note - the true hallmark of someone with credible opinions.
