I had to comment o­n Oon Yeoh's response (Transitions, Wed, Feb 26) to Francis Foo's letter o­n War: Final Admission of human failure. The way I see it, Mr Yeoh misses what Francis is trying to put forward. Mr Yeoh took o­ne mistake to rubbish Francis' arguments and to label him as ignorant. It is not appropriate.

Francis's main points, found in paragraphs 3, 4 and 5, is that no war is justified, regardless. Do not look at his finger and say his finger is not nice when he is trying to point at the moon to show you the moon.

Saddam is no angel, but US' intentions for war is not for Iraq or Iraqis. While I may not agree with Francis' viewpoint that no war is justifiable war can be justified if o­ne considers the intention or the purpose this particular war the US is espousing cannot be justified. Is Bush doing it for the Iraqis, the world or the human race?

We need to ask the basic questions first before going further. Otherwise we all can get carried away with irrelevant intellectualisation in order to skew and confuse things for the purpose of winning points o­n an issue. This is precisely what the US is trying to do.

Mr o­nn Yeoh, please maintain your objectivity and cool.
