In Johor, dog owners are being persecuted, for being just that, dog-owners. This matter was the subject of a letter to the New Straits Times last week. Increased red tape, increased licence fees, and worse of all, you have to ask for permission to rear a dog, if your neighbour is a Malay Muslim.

Exactly what is the problem here? What's the sensitivity here? Is the dog (as an animal) the target, or the ownership of a dog the target, or worse is the owner of the dog the target of the prosecutory red tape?

Dog owners have now and then been the subject of the authorities ire, e.g. in Selangor. The matter does seem to disappear but resurfaces now and then.

Our future PM brought up the issue of the Malay mindset in his speech as reported in the NST recently. He should have included the habit of bullying the non-Malays every now and then (remember the compulsory school uniform issue in Malacca and the uniform for convocation in Perak?).

All these shows how far down the drain our so-called racial unity has dropped. The mindset must change and change quickly before it is too late.
