Who did initial investigations' on police?
The foreign minister claims
that initial investigations show that there was no mistreatment of the Indian IT professionals.Who conducted the investigations? The police? The same police whose "initial investigations" showed that former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim was not abused by anyone in the police cell and may have fallen off his chair?
The problem is that there is absolutely no honesty or integrity in the police force. They have been given carte blanche to do anything they want by the powers that be. So they arrest and physically abuse highly qualified MBA holders and technical experts all based on a report that 'some Indians are causing trouble in the neighbourhood'.
To the Indian government, I say this is not the end. It will happen again and again unless you take some serious action and demand protection for your citizens.
Many 'criminals', mostly Indian Malaysians, have been shot
dead by the police in recent months and not one of such cases has ever been investigated satisfactorily. "Initial investigations" have always shown that the police did no wrong. The Indian government should tell its citizens to go to countries where merit is the deciding factor, not the colour of your skin or your religion. And Malaysia is definitely not one of these countries.
As for Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar's comments, no one really takes him seriously anymore. "Initial investigations" indicate that he does not even know whether an investigation was carried out.
