Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar has yet again made his comments without any consideration to the consequences of his words. He was fast in defending the police force, in the accusation of police brutality , but slow to responding to India's inquiry and protest notes o­n the matter.

It has been already five days since the incident and two complaints to the ministry, our high commisisoner to India has also been called up and yet the minister has not shown any respect to New Delhi by responding to its request.

The initial embarrassment our police force has inflicted upon the nation has been further enhanced by the foreign minister who has yet to respond because he is either too ignorant or ill-equipped to deal with the matter.

It further surprises me that Syed Hamid cites a report that our police force was not abusive and is willing to stand by it. My question is who wrote the report, how long did they take to investigate the matter, and who investigated the matter?

Since a royal inquiry was not set up nor could it have been set up in such a short time, was the report provided by the same accused party then? If so, how can the minister further embarrass Malaysia by quoting this report?

As Malaysian citizens, we are not proud of the high-handed manner in which our police force always seem to act, and coupled with our minister's failure to react, it is a bad indication of how we treat our neighbours.

Please minister, take your responsibility seriously, or resign and let someone else deal with the matter more professionally.

Please learn to have diplomacy when dealing with foreign nations The childish manner in which you handled the Singapore issue has already caused us much international embarrassment, let us not repeat this with India.
