I refer to the letter Monogami ke arah kebahagian suami-isteri by Mahu kebenaran. I agree that monogamy is best but I feel that the current campaign for monogamy is hypocritical. It is laughable to promote monogamy but ignore adultery. The campaign should be for husbands and wives to be faithful to each other.

It is hurtful for o­ne partner of a marriage to find out that the other partner has desecrated the marriage vow by being promiscuous. Worse of all is that jilted women have no recourse to the law if she finds out that her husband has been renting a hotel room with his secretary. In many cases, women are forced to accept their husband's unfaithfulness because the man is the breadwinner.

I support a monogamy policy which is combined with a policy of penalising adulterers who bring

unhappiness to a marriage.
