Observations have a place in news reports

As per your editor's note that was attached to my letter critiquing your story, Umno Youth wants to take Bush and Blair to court , observations do indeed have a place in news stories, and it would be a shame to only save such thoughts for the opinion pages like you suggest.
It's not editorialising to inject opinion if it's done right. A simple call to an outside source would have given your story some balance. Why not sound out an opposition figure, a human rights activist, a lawyer, or anyone who could comment on Umno's laughable role as a legal crusader?
That way you stick to the facts and also do the story justice.
