Why police, Pak Lah should take the heat
One does not need to be very smart to answer the question posed by Mustapha ong - Why always blame police and Pak Lak?
It is about democracy, human rights and public accountability.
It is also about hypocrisy and double standards. There were two peaceful anti-war demonstrations; the police protected one group but arrested protesters from another group.
What's the difference? one group is backed by the government, while the other is comprised of members and leaders of the legal opposition.
Why should Abdullah Ahmad Badawi be held accountable? Because in a parliamentary democracy, the home minister (i.e. Abdullah) is the political master of the police.
What right has reader Jamri to question the police and Abdullah? Because he/she is a human being who cannot tolerate nonsensical double standards and hypocrisy, and Malaysia is supposed to be an open society and a democracy.
