Reality of war captured in gory pictures
With reference to Jacob George's comment that gory pictures (of the war on Iraq) would create animosity between people of different ethnic backgrounds in this country, to me, the same so-called "gory pictures" are the truth, i.e. what war brings to everyone, especially children.
Hopefully, after looking at the pictures, those who believe in the romanticism of the American press would have second thoughts about supporting the war where the Americans are the 'heroes' and 'liberators'; where the killing and destruction are all necessary in order to bring progress to Iraq; where Saddam Hussein is the villain and George W Bush the hero; where everyone hates America because it espouses "freedom"; where American lives are more valuable than other lives; and where the United Nations is only to be referred to only if it serves the purpose of the US.
If we went along with the writer's suggestion, am I to assume that we can watch CNN, CNBC and the rest, while we suppress our local media?
