Tamil schools: Its about parental choice
I do not pay much attention to this Kayveas chap. He is just a politician trying to earn his keep. Even without delving into the details of what he said, I cannot understand how RKK ( More support for Kayveas ) and Dravidian ( Kayveas is right about Tamil schools ) can support such a stand.
It is not about whether children who are educated in Tamil schools will be more in demand in the job market. It is about basic rights. If Tamil parents want to send their children to Tamil schools then they have every right to do so. No one should take that right away.
All parents must have the right to decide what is right for their children. They are in the best position to decide simply because they are mostly likely to care for the well-being of their children.
If RKK and Dravidian prefer to send their children to national schools, by all means do so. No matter how disagreeable others might find that to be, no one can take that right away from them. Even the right to display one's superciliousness and make a fool of oneself should be protected.
And if the Tamil schools are in deplorable state then the Education Ministry should remedy the situation. Tamils also have the right to decent schools. If the ministry can spend a few hundred million ringgit on matriculation colleges, they could easily support and fund Tamil schools.
So do not fault the Tamil community for the present state of Tamil schools. If you must, fault the present system. Please do not pick on the Tamil community. The same goes for Kayveas.
