LCH's contention that the invasion of Iraq is a war o­n terrorism is a pathetic attempt to justify a colossal mistake that has caused loss of innocent lives and substantial damage to property. He emphasised that it is not against Islam, nor is it about oil, as if to pre-empt any counter arguments, and further argues that the war is to send a strong message from the US to the rest of the world.

He has conveniently forgotten about the issue made over the so-called weapons of mass destruction, regime change, and most of all, Bush's warning to Saddam Hussein to leave his own country. Does it mean that had Saddam left the country, the danger from terrorism is over? And was Iraq ever involved in the Sept 11 bombing?

Osama bin Laden detests Saddam Hussein and the o­nly common factor between them is their utter dislike for American lopsided and pretentious foreign policies. If hatred for America's policies is a criteria for any military actions, then it looks like the US will be attacking about 80 percent of the world, me as an individual, included.
