Judges in Anwars appeal do have a choice
GH Kok is correct ( What about injustices at home? ). Everyone is faced with a choice. The judges at the Anwar Ibrahim trial had a choice, the chief prosecutor had a choice, the leaders of Barisan Nasional had a choice. Their choice was to do the right thing or to allow fear and intimidation to rule and they chose the latter.
Last Friday was the darkest day in the history of Malaysia not only because the heavens are literally pouring rain on Kuala Lumpur but because the Court of Appeal judges denied Anwar justice. They chose not to walk in integrity and honour when they turned down the appeal and bail.
How these men go home to face their children is beyond me. How can they ever look their children in the eye and say, "work hard" and "do a decent living", unless they truly believe that Anwar is guilty of the charges put upon him.
As Anwar said, they are "spineless" for they fear man more than they fear God. The evidence was clear and it would have been fit for them to claim a mistrial, but not so in this high-profile case where Putrajaya has so much to lose.
The ruling elite have made their choice to either do justice or allow tyranny to continue. The people shall now have their choice...bring on the ballot boxes!
