Journalism not an act of bravery but a hatchet job
I refer to several articles about NST reporter Shamsul Akhmar's tiff with Foreign Minister Syed Hamid and how some readers are falling for the reporter's ' bravery '.
I am a keen follower of the "twist and turns" of Malaysian politics and let me remind all that Malaysian reporters write what they are told. The reporters have powerful patrons to support and back them when they go after other powerful individuals in Umno politics. This is not bravery but just a hatchet job.
It is so obvious that Syed Hamid is being slammed because he has become "grind meat" because of Umno politics. Does anybody know where he stands on the Abdullah Badawi-Najib Tun Razak divide?
The real hero of Malaysian journalism are people like Said Zahari, Hishamuddin Rais and Steven Gan and they don't have to be in Iraq or in Timbuktu to get kudos from me. Kamunting is enough! Blah to you puppies!
