It would do good for the Chinese Malaysians to understand the changing nature of the political landscape in Malaysia. The traditional political structure of a race-based coalition government no longer appeals to young Malaysian professionals.

This is further fuelled by reports of party infighting and corruption within the ruling coalition. No longer are the majority of Malaysians united together behind the traditional Umno party simply because the party have lost touch with the grassroots. In fact the party is seen to be " kejam " (wicked) in its handling of former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim who was denied freedom because of his political stand, and now ailing in prison.

The Chinese community must look deeply within themselves and ask if they would like to continue supporting a trouble-laden MCA, selling off the Chinese community votes like a hungry beggar in turn for business deals.

Keadilan is o­ne party that is untested but its leaders are willing to sacrifice power for the sake of justice and the rule of law. For revealing corruption within the ruling elite, several of its leaders have been jailed under the Internal Security Act for two years without a fair trial. It is not race-based, it is justice-based. I am not an active member, but I will throw my support behind Keadilan. The winds of change are here.
