DAP member of Parliament for Seputeh Teresa Kok must be criticised for her double standards. She deliberately ignored PKR’s creation of a by-election to resolve its internal party squabbles when she irresponsibly mocked Barisan Nasional and MCA on the possible candidate choice.

In order to divert attention away from the incompetence of DAP’s state lawmakers since the 13th general election or DAP’s bungled party elections last year, Kok chose to focus on the possible BN nominee to deceive voters.

Kok’s lips remained sealed when the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) unconstitutionally raided and confiscated Malay and Iban language copies of the Bible from the Bible Society of Malaysia. Neither did she protest when PKR trampled on democracy to pave the way for PKR ketua umum Anwar Ibrahim to become Selangor menteri besar.

The so-called ‘Kajang move’ will cost tax-payers plenty of funds for the Election Commission to organise the by-elections and likewise for political parties to mobilise their campaign machinery. Yet, there is not a sound of rebuke from Kok against PKR or Anwar. On the contrary, she chose to utter irresponsible comments on the yet-to-be-announced MCA candidate. Kicking up this big fuss shows Kok’s shameful double standards and that she is devoid of political consciousness.

Kok need not worry as MCA will certainly nominate the best candidate.

Instead, she should be most worried about why Selangor Pakatan is bereft of talent. Otherwise, why else should Anwar, an MP for Permatang Pauh in Penang, rush southwards all the way to Selangor to contest for a state seat? Has Selangor Pakatan shortage of talent reached such a serious stage that no other local leader is capable of standing for Kajang, thereby forcing Anwar to personally do battle?
