I refer to the numerous arguments about Malay and Muslim supremacy in Malaysia that claim these rights cannot be questioned. I beg to differ.

There is nothing in our constitution that accords supremacy status to Malays or Muslims. The constitutions states that Islam is the main religion and accords some special rights to Malays.

These does not translate to the two groups being superior to other Malaysians. In fact Article 5 clearly states that no one should be discriminated against based on any criteria unless specifically allowed under any law.

Therefore there is no question of being a supremacist - this is merely a figment of imagination in certain Malay quarters, fostered by peace-loving Malaysians who wish not to rock the boat. That should not be interpreted as acceptance.

I am of the opinion that not all Malays harp on this 'supremacy'. It is limited to only those who will be nobodies without this tag as they do not have any qualification or skills that they can utilise to advance - they are just merely riding the gravy train.

That will slowly be addressed by the Malays themselves who will run out of patience with those who sponge off the state without working hard.
