It is jaw-dropping to read former Kajang state assemblyperson Lee Chin Cheh’s statement that he quit because Selangor needed the leadership of Anwar Ibrahim.

If the so-called world-class leader Anwar (as claimed by PKR deputy president Azmin Ali) is so important to Selangor, why did Lee not suggest Anwar to contest in Selangor in the last general election?

According to news report, Lee claimed that his resignation did not draw much controversy, but is it true that it is not controversial?

Lee’s resignation has cost the taxpayers’ RM1.6 million for the by-election. The Kajang voters have to spend their time to vote. Doesn’t  he think these are all controversial? Did Lee read about the commentaries and criticism from the media and the Kajang constituents?

Lee claimed that he had met Anwar for five minutes to ensure that his resignation would not cause any problem to him, either from the party or the Election Commission. This shows that he is only worried about himself, and that he could not care less about the interest and feelings of the Kajang people.

His comment on incumbent Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim that the latter has not lived up to people’s expectation is a clear attempt to promote Anwar as the replacement menteri besar. But what about himself? Did he too not betray the expectation and mandate of the Kajang people? He only denied after his resignation that it was not his incapability that he quit as state assemblyman or that he has received a large sum of money after tendering his resignation.

An unprincipled politician like Lee has no political conscience. He has exploited the voters as a stepping stone to achieve his personal agenda and abandoned the voters. It is time for Kajang voters to wake up and stop being fooled by these unscrupulous politicians.
