Once again we have in our midst, allegations of graft involving high profile individuals. Having read the gist of the Airod allegations , we now have none other than the second finance minister linked to the charges. It seems that our politicians can be counted on to enrich themselves while there's opportunity to make hay.

Of late, rumours are aplenty with names ranging from Najib Razak, Khir Toyo or council members of MPAJ associated with allegations of graft. The ACA would have a field day if they choose to conduct their own investigations but alas, the invisible hand is making this statutory body conduct only selective investigations.

I'm certain there aren't many individuals who are made of the same moral grain as mentri besar Kelantan, Nik Aziz, who had the audacity to decline money from a certain timber tycoon. Umno, when up against PAS, can no longer claim high moral ground, and we can only begin to wonder that PAS might make further inroads in the states of Pahang and Kedah.

Our nation as a whole may be on the verge of turbulent times as we are currently experiencing the calm before the storm. There has been little scrutiny in government contracts. There's no debate on the contracts awarded nor anybody being judged based on their performance. What is certain is that it is highly plausible skimming the top of contracts is not a random occurrence like in the case of Airod.

To those involved in graft, I wish you well but be warned that your actions might one day come back to haunt you. Often times the whistle-blower is the person who is not satisfied with his cut and hence any act of graft can never be assured of silence. Such is human nature.
