The Ipoh mayor should be fired immediately. He has no right to lecture Ipoh residents on what constitutes morality and what does not. We do not want Datuk Sirajuddin Salleh to be our mayor because we are ashamed of his overzealous upholding of so-called Asian values.

He has made us look like idiots who do not know how to behave in public. To most residents, there is nothing wrong in kissing or hugging in public, what more the mere holding of hands.

Ipoh is neither an Islamic city nor a Kota Bharu. It is a city where Chinese and Indians form over 70 per cent of the population. So, Datuk Bandar, please respect our sensitivities.

With the general election looming, it is time Ipoh residents vote out the BN. BN has done nothing for the city. From being what used to be the cleanest city in the country when DAP won all the seats in Kinta Valley, Ipoh has now become one of the dirtiest cities in the country.

It is not developing. The BN government has failed to bring progress to the city and the state of Perak.

I believe the DAP can wrest the Ipoh Timur and Ipoh Barat seats from BN in the coming elections. We, the supporters of DAP, hope that the opposition party can capitalise on this issue and make Ipoh residents realised that there is no use supporting the BN. Another 30 more votes to the Ipoh DAP in the coming general elections.
