With reference to Abakjr's ' Wrong to compare our police with others ', one must understand that it is only through comparison with the better or the best that we know there are still room for own improvements.

I would say the general responsibilities of all policemen over the world are the same, if their existence is really for the benefit of the people and the country, but not for individual leader or party! So, what is wrong to make comparisons?

I agree that our policemen "are burdened with extra duties such as the war on pirated VCDs and illegal immigrants. And yet they are being paid peanuts."

But please ask yourself, Abakjr, who are the ones who ask for bribes in order to let go of illegal immigrants, illegal four-digit gambling operators, or pirated VCD sellers and their employers? (Don't forget that the police has yet to charge any pirated VCD sellers or producers to court since the operation started.)

Who are the ones who ask citizens, whose bags are snatched, to report them in as the loss of identification cards, driving licence, etc? The list can go on!

My final question: who had allowed our former inspector-general of police Rahim Noor to beat up a detainee, not to mention those ordinary people beaten up by ordinary policemen while under custody?

So, please show us that you are 'mesra, cekap dan betul' before asking for our appreciation!
