I refer to the sentiments opined upon by an academician from a local centre of higher learning on the veracity of reporting in the cyber media.

I'm disgusted by the statement because as someone who is supposed to teach 'Communications Studies' to young minds, this is such a silly rationalisation of the matter because:

1) How many reporters have the "knowledge and capability" to write independently, let alone carry a few sentences that make sense or stick to their convictions, without fear nor favour in the public domain?;

2) This Associate Prof Mohamad Md Yusoff assumes that we are idiots who believe the mainstream media or the rubbish being spewed by some so-called experts called in to opine on the handling of the missing flight MH370 crisis;

3) He obviously hasn't seen the (quality of) press briefings by the authorities where the 'three wise monkeys' syndrome is plainly apparent. Yet, the "knowledgeable and credible" mainstream journalists do not crucify the people who make such silly comments;

4) The fact remains that the Boeing 777-200 has been missing for more than 72 hours now and nobody from the search-and-rescue (SAR) committee has officially used the word "crashed/hijacked" to describe the event. If any of these had not happened to the plane, why on earth are they combing the ocean for?;

5) For heaven's sake, the (Malaysian) SAR team is now searching the Straits of Malacca and Sumatra for the plane that disappeared off the radar 500km in the opposite direction. The "knowledgeable and credible" journalists have not raised this as a material anomaly in logic; and, of course,

6) It would be totally remiss not to mention our "pants on the floor" shaman who was roped in, apparently by “a high ranking government official” (really???), to catch the banshee who has abducted MH370. This bomoh got more publicity from the "knowledgeable and credible" press than the real experts.

Aiyoyo kadavelle! (Oh God!). What else can I say?

The writer is a frequent contributor to Malaysiakini , who continues to monitor this tragic missing MAS plane event, albeit somewhat amused by what is happening.
