It seems that the non-Malays will benefit more than the Malays if PAS manages to implement its Islamic state blueprint/memorandum , or whatever it decides to call it.

Democracy would then be the sole privilege of the non-Muslims. The rest of us Malay-Muslims like myself will be subjected to PAS' interpretation of Islam at work. Unless of course, if Abdul Rahman Abdul Talib, PAS information chief for PJ Utara, can guarantee us that what he said in his reply to Suresh Gnasegarah is true.

When asked for more information on the Islamic state blueprint, Abdul Rahman said that we need not bother since it is a policy which will never be implemented anyway. Reassuring, in a way, but nevertheless, one should always consider the possibility that it is mere lip service to quell anxieties we have over PAS' intention.

While the PJ Utara information chief says one thing, and the acting party leader says another, i.e, PAS' Islamic state objective will not be compromised. Muslims like myself are to be denied our democratic rights to be tried under civil laws. If I insist, I might be branded an apostate.

What choice do I , and millions other Malay-Muslims, who prefer to maintain the status quo with regards to the law and constitution, have but to reluctantly vote for Umno in the next election? We had high hopes for another alternative-to-Umno opposition party, but that party has appeared to be a ' pak turut ' to PAS.
