Muslims are already subjected to Islamic law

Amir Kamal's response to my earlier letter is based upon two presumptions:

1) An Islamic state under PAS will deny the rights of Muslims to choose between Islamic or civil laws.

2) PAS has its own brand of Islam.

Let me comment on both presumptions.

On the first presumption, as it is now, Muslims are already subjected to Islamic law in matters related to family law and inheritance. Furthermore, Muslims are not allowed to opt for Family and Inheritance Law stipulated in the civil laws of our land.

So Mr Kamal does not have to worry about Muslims being forced to accept Islamic law as Muslims are already being subjected to such treatment

On his second presumption, if this is true that PAS has its own brand of Islam then why it is never been charged by any religious authorities for practicing deviated teachings and making deviated interpretation of Islam?.

In fact, PAS' calls for dialogue and face-to-face discussions have never been heeded by Umno or any of the religious authorities in Malaysia. This proves that PAS' interpretation of Islam is valid and in accordance to the teachings of Islam. Those rejecting it is actually rejecting Islam, not PAS.
