Kudos to Lisa Jaafar who has finally spoken up for many of us.

As Lisa has pointed out, one of the great teachings of Islam is that there is no (or should not be) compulsion in religion, and therefore, any human-made law or constitution that forces any individuals or an ethnic, cultural or linguistic group to embrace Islam is against a clear Quranic

injunction.

The Malaysian constitution that stipulates that all Malays must be Muslims is paradoxically unIslamic.

If the Maker (Allah or God or The Supreme One) is the Beneficient and Merciful, surely He would not force any human being to be a member of any one particular religious group. He, the Omnipotent, must be more self-confident than our lawmakers and framers of the constitution to let us make our personal choice based on His Grace (Hidayah).

Why should our elected and human lawmakers and framers of the constitution, and their interpreters as well as enforcers usurp the right that belongs only to Him? I hope those who propose that Malaysia is already an Islamic state, or to set up one based on Quran respond to these questions.

To put it succinctly: please answer clearly whether the Federal Constitution that defines all Malays to be a Muslims contradicts the Quranic injunction that there is no compulsion in religion. Yes or no?
