We are currently witnessing one of the most rapid development in the country. I am referring to the development of tens of thousands of houses and apartments, built to satisfy the insatiable demands of the population.

Development is fine but not to the extent of causing social stress and friction among the population due both traffic and human congestion by allowing too high density development and lack of recreational space for the people.

Section 19 currently has about 2,500 households. MPPJ is allowing another 1,300-plus apartments to be built in the same area.

Last week, New Straits Times reported the abandoned one million square feet shopping complex, Dijaya Mall which will be revived with the development of another 300 to 400 apartments next to Casa Damansara.

Can you imagine the increase in the volume of traffic and the demand for infrastructure in this area? What has gone wrong in our urban planning?
