Reading the article in Singapore's Straits Times quoting Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Damascus saying that corruption in Malaysia is still controllable, was an eye-opener indeed.

It was open admission that despite his 22 years in power and having declared a clean and efficient government as his motivation during his early years in power, he has not succeeded in controlling corruption.

Worse, he even justifies the corruption level in Malaysia as acceptable compared to other countries where it is done openly. It is akin to saying that a robber is not so bad compared to robbers who rob you in broad daylight.

Well, at least we can take pride in knowing that as a corrupt country, Malaysia isn't that corrupt because corruption is still to be ashamed of. God helps us all when this is no longer the case.
