I'm sure that Azmi had spoken only for himself when he said that PAS never agrees with DAP's Malaysian Malaysia. In one of the many of the pre-election ceramah (political talks) of 1999, PAS seemed to whole-heartedly support Malaysian Malaysia as the party claimed that it is in line with true Islamic justice which is against racial discrimination of any sort.

Thus anti-Barisan Nasional voters who were not terribly fond of PAS, voted for the party anyway because they believe in the cause of a united opposition. Just like Azmi, many of us voted for a party we did not like (in our case, PAS) because for us the concept of Barisan Alternatif was more important.

When BA won the two states of Kelantan and Terengganu, PAS claimed it as its own. Harakah kept referring to the governments of both states as PAS governments instead of BA governments.

With Kelantan and Terengganu safely in their hands (but for how long?), the rest of whatever remains of BA are indirectly told to lay off ('These two states of ours shall have a separate manifesto for the coming election and we shall have another set of manifesto for the rest of secular Malaysia').

Just like Azmi, we will give not give our vote to a party we mistrust the next time round.
