We are appalled at your headline ' Happy 46th Birthday, Malaysia '. The error persists year after year, until we can hardly stand it anymore. Malaysia was formed on Sept 16, 1963, almost 40 years ago. So Malaysia was born in 1963.

So how is it that all and sundry, everyone chooses to insist that not only is Aug 31 to be the Independence (Merdeka) Day of Malaysia, but also that 1957 was the birth year of Malaysia?

Malaya became independent (obtained Merdeka) on Aug 31, 1957, but Malaysia was born on Sept 16, 1963. Such historical truths has to be installed back, or the people of Sabah and Sarawak would never be able to fully integrate well into Malaysia.

If we all agree that the Japanese should not twist historic facts by changing their history books that they never invaded China, for instance, why must the authorities in Malaya insist on twisting the historical fact of Malaysia forming on Sept 16, 1963? It's a downright shameful act as far as we are concerned.
