My Perdana V6 was stolen in front of Bank Bumiputra Commerce in the Universiti Putra Malaysia campus at 6.45pm last Tuesday. I reported immediately to the Serdang police

station. They called back a few minutes later informing me that they had alerted the relevant police personnel about the car theft.

At about 11.45pm that night, my stolen car was found being recklessly driven at the Shah Alam toll plaza - it cut into the lane of another car. A Chinese couple honked at the occupants. The car stopped and its occupants - armed with parangs (machetes) - smashed the car and slashed the couple a number of times.

Eight days later, Shah Alam and Melawati police officers interrogated me as part of their investigation into the 'road bully' incident. They did not know, nor believe, that my car was already reported stolen. They rejected my offer to fax them my 'lost car' police report. They said they had photographs of me committing the crime. Eventually, they allowed my family to fax the police report.

How is it that the police from the two stations did not know that my car was stolen. And why did they took eight days to contact me - a 'violent road bully' who had slashed two individuals with parangs ? And why did they lie that they had photographs of me committing the crime?

Instead of wasting time on ambushing the cars with their speed traps, the police should look out for speeding cars which weave dangerously in and out of car lanes. They are dangerous to other road users and likely to trigger accidents. They may even be criminals who have just committed some crimes.
