Is wrestling considered healthy viewing?
It seems that our authorities are inconsistent with banning and censorship when it comes to entertainment.
Recently, the tourism minister announced extreme rules such as no shouting or jumping on nu-rock band, Linkin Park. At the same time, we have had movies banned due to "extreme violence" that is deemed unsuitable for our society.
Late last night when I was switching channels on my TV, I managed to view a short preview on WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) on TV3. To my horror, it showed violent beatings using metal chairs, and a guy bleeding from his head.
I wonder how this "alternative sport entertainment" managed to pass censorship. I find movies to be a form of expression, but brute violence on wrestling programmes is pure rubbish! This is far more extreme than loud bands and action movies.
With such televison programmes, it is no wonder that students are becoming more violent these days.
Does our government view violent wrestling shows as healthier content compared to rock concerts and movies? Now I'm confused about the definition of 'healthy' entertainment.
