I read Bil Kor and Manjit Bhatia with interest. I agree Arafat must go, but so must Israel, yes, the whole Israel should go and become Palestine. Israel has no right to exist.
Arafat must go because he is a petty despot who sells Palestine down the drain. He signed the stupid Oslo 1992 which gave away Palestine's birthright. He gave them a 'bantustan' Palestine. It was a small piece of Swiss cheese, the holes being Israeli settlements.
The late, great Edward Said, an Arafat ally turned harsh critic, denounced Oslo 1992 very strongly, and said there was no more credibility in Arafat after that unfortunate incident, and no turning back to armed struggle will redeem him.
To call Arafat the main stumbling block to peace, I would say it is the unholy trinity of the USA, Israel and Arafat himself.
What must be done by Palestinians and pro-Palestine forces around the world is to network, with all people in the West who are for an independent Palestine and the abrogation of Israel as a Jewish republic. The Jews already have Europe and the former Soviet Union. Why should they have a special Jewish homeland of their own when they already have the above two regions? Why should they come into an Arab country and rob its inhabitants of their birthrights?
If there truly is an independent UN, it should move into Israel and occupy the republic created by theft of Arab land. Make it a UN Trust Territory, then over a period of time, transform it into a modern, democratic, secular, Arab and Jewish state with an Arab president and a Jewish prime minister. Religious extremism and Zionism (Jewish supremacy) must be outlawed.
