We’ve had enough of dirty money politics
The Teluk Intan by-election is just over but the after-effect continues to brew.
Realising that Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud had caused a huge stir in that there are hundreds of thousands of ‘Dyanas’ out there that could bring down the BN/Umno government come the 14th general election (GE14), BN/Umno leaders are therefore scared out of their wits.
Based on reliable inside information, there is a machination going on that feelers have been sent out to woo Dyana Sofya to quit DAP. The BN/Umno is prepared to pay any amount she wanted. The BN government want to use her to smear DAP in particular and Pakatan in general.
Well, we have had enough of the money politics in Malaysia. This is another one in the making. Not only Dyana Sofya is targeted but her mother Yammy Samat as well.
BN/Umno is at the cross-roads where it is survival or death next GE. Therefore it is a natural course of events that they want to have the mother and daughter to be onthe BN/Umno side well before the next GE for obvious reasons.
The BN/Umno political leaders will strenuously pursue this course of action until they achieve what they wanted. No stone of the most dirty political tactics is unturned. Tonnes of money will be on the table as bait. It is seemingly a must-win case at all costs.
Time will tell what will entail in the months ahead. It is the nightmare of the political leaders of DAP now. What is and how strong is her commitment and conviction to stay with DAP, although there is unflinching support for her.
If the stake offered by the BN/Umno is too tempting and too huge to resist then she may choose to be an instant filthy rich lady rather than a politician. It is nerve-testing time for her and her mother and their consciences. As of now her mother may still remain as an Umno and Perkasa member. This can help them reach the tipping point.
However, DAP has its trump card to retain her. DAP has been treating her well. She therefore has said that DAP is her family.
Tunku Aziz Tunku Ibrahim, a former vice-chairperson of DAP and senator, predicted that she will follow his footsteps and leave DAP. Tunku Aziz is a senile old man who is good for nothing. The writer feels that he is a pipe dreamer and cannot read her mind.
Long journey for a novice politician
However her political path may be full of pitfalls and excitement. It is a long journey for this novice politician. If she has steely determination and strong staying power in DAP, she has very bright future politically as Pakatan is getting stronger by the day.
She is epitomising Generation Y. Many semi-urban and urban Malays who are well-educated and have transcended the political of race and religion and are pursuing justice, freedom, accountability, incorrupt leadership and good governance will rally behind her. She is therefore an important asset to DAP.
Her achievement at the Teluk Intan by-election is not completely hers. She managed to pull in so many votes due big part to the standing of the DAP. She must therefore be grateful to the party leaders. Had she joined Umno, she might not have the chance to be nominated as a state assemblyperson candidate, let alone parliamentary candidate during her whole political life.
BN/Umno is corrupt to the core and is heavily infested with racial and religious bigots. Cronyism, nepotism and abusive of power are rampant and widely practiced.
Since independence until today, many Malays are still poor and are below the poverty line. On the contrary, ironically a small percentage of Malays is filthy rich and yet still continue enjoying/monopolising the benefits of many government enacted affirmative action policies such as the New Economic Policy (NEP), New Economic Model (NEM) and Bumiputra Economic Empowerment Agenda (BEEA), just to name a few.
These rich Malays have good connection with Umno goons. They are selfish, greedy and have no quam about the poor Malays. “You screech my back and I scratch yours” is at play.
Umno is an old men’s club with many senile old men holding key positions. The talented and well educated Generation Y shuns joining it as members. Therefore one can hardly find any young and capable new blood therein. It will therefore getting less relevant and very soon be thrown into oblivion. The MCA, MIC, Gerakan, etc component parties are in similar situations and will follow suit.
Since independence, the BN/Umno government has comprised of a bunch of no-brainer politicians running the country. They play gutter politics, money politics and mismanage the country, resulting in sovereign federal debt being more than RM800 billion or more than 56 percent of the Gross Domestic Products (GDP).
This sovereign federal debt is ever increasing unabated.
Removal of subsidies
The powers-that-be has removed all types of food and fuel subsidies, implementing the pending Goods and Service Tax in April 2015 and increase in electricity tariffs. Car prices are expected to go up again as Proton chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad wants to save Proton cars with several billion ringgit.
The rakyat, who are already suffering paying one of the highest car prices in the world, will have to tighten their belts further. There are many bad things on the way.
MAS will soon be marching to Putrajaya for huge sums of money (hundreds of billion ringgits) to keep it flying. MAS is the country’s flag carrier and therefore it is a face-saving case. Putrajaya will find it difficult to say “no”.
The bigots of BN/Umno have been treating the Chinese as punching bags for whatever things they fail to achieve. despite the spoon-feeding policies.
The achievements and little success of the Chinese in Malaysia do not fall from the sky nor given by the Malays as claimed by some Malay Muslim NGOs (eg. Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia or Isma, and Perkasa). It is the results of their sheer hard work, frugal and thrifty life style. To blame the Chinese is extremely senseless.
According to ex-PM Dr Mahathir, the Europeans, especially the British, frequently said that “the Malays are lazy, not competitive and not trustworthy.” Dr Mahathir has never fought back on this humiliating statement. Silence is consent. This statement therefore holds a lot of water. Otherwise the Malays cannot be in their current situation after about 45 years of affirmative action policies.
No one, including the Chinese in Malaysia, in the world owes the Malays a living. Race-based policy deters foreign investments and will bring total economic failure eventually in Malaysia.
US President Barack Obama is spot on in when he said: “Malaysia will not succeed when the minorities are not given equal opportunities!”
Mediocre policies in all fields
The talented and marginalised minorities will leave this country for good, leaving this country with only mediocre ones. The powers-that-be insist on practicing mediocre policies in all fields of human endeavours, and Malaysia is therefore destined to be a Third World rock-bottom backward country.
Though English is the international lingua franca, yet the powers-that-be refuse to embrace it as one of our languages. It is their nationalistic and chauvinistic ego at play. It is undeniable that the English language is “the” window of scientific knowledge. To let the ego to impede us from catching up with the scientifically advanced countries is the stupidest policy.
It is my fervent hope that Dyana Sofya steadfastly remains a DAP member so that we, the right-minded Malaysians together, are able to topple the corrupt BN/Umno government in the very near future.
Do whatever we can to save Malaysia before it is ruined by BN/Umno.
