A courageous move by PAS
I am inclined to comment on PAS' brave move to present its Islamic state concept to the Malaysian public despite knowing that it might create controversy, especially among non-Muslims.
I think what PAS does is in the right direction to open up debate among all Malaysians with regard to Islamic state concept. To me PAS takes the bull by its horn by presenting it to the Malaysian public and asking for debate.
As and when the concept is debated, more of its essence will be understood by Malaysians. This will hopefully remove their fears of an Islamic state if PAS is able to provide good answers to their worries.
After all, PAS is always sincere and straightforward with regard to its resolve to promote good governance based on Islamic teachings - unlike Umno, which says different things to Muslims and non-Muslims.
Umno says it will not implement hudud law in front of non-Muslims, in order to garner their votes. Yet, in front of Muslims, it says it is all for the implementation of true hudud law.
PAS has made its stand clear on this - what else does it need to do to prove its sincerity?
Thus, bravo to PAS for presenting the Islamic state concept. I would like to call upon all Malaysians to debate the concept rationally and intellectually.
And for PAS, please be prepared to engage in healthy debate with all Malaysians, as this will ultimately remove fears among non-Muslims (as well as Muslims).
Thumbs up for PAS.
