Last week, I watched Newsline on TV3 with a gleeful joy. TV3 was reporting on news that is linked to the major bus crash recently, interviewing a few representatives of the drivers' associations. The interviewees commented on the failure of the Transport Ministry's policy on log journals for drivers, implemented as part of an aim to reduce road accidents.

If some of you watched the news, you might be wondering if civil servants in the ministry were doing their job. It fact, all previous Transport Ministry plans to reduce accidents have been a failure, including all those high technology proposals that people in the ministry presumed could lower accidents or prevent them.

The representatives of drivers' association gave good views even though brief. Isn't the ministry supposed to study from the local associations rather than going overseas to waste more public funds? The Transport Ministry is not the only one to be blamed.

Recently, a lot of nonsensical ideas proposed by the civil service and cabinet have been publicised. From organizing a 'second wives club', to proposals to filter the Internet, I wonder how they can come up with such ideas and still remain in office
